UAV Hybrid Propulsion
The UAV Hybrid Propulsion project was sponsored by the High Technology Development Venture and the Office of Naval Research. The system features a combined electric and heavy fuel (JP-8/Kerosene)propulsion plant that provides a degree of stealth by reducing its heat, visible and sound signature when required. Ambient Micro partnered with WA to develop a Thermo Electric Generator to harvest the waiste exhaust heat of the combustion system. The hybrid system is still under development and will be offered as an adavanced option for future UAV aircraft.
Long Range Solar Electric UAV
We are working on a solar electric powered, extreme endurance UAV that will begin test flights in the summer of 2008. The project will attempt to break current flight duration records and explore the feasibility of a cost effective maritime patrol UAV.
